Vithya Arasu is an internationally acclaimed performer and a direct disciple of the legendary Dr Padma Subrahmanyam, who carries the title of Padma Vibhushan for her contributions to the field of Classical Dance.

Vithya Arasu is also one of the few artists in her industry to have graced the silver screens of Hollywood through her performance in the Academy Award-winning film Life of Pi, bringing the magic of South Indian Dance to a global audience.

Her diverse experience in various art forms, including Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Odissi Kandyan, Chau, Karanas, and Western Dance, has contributed to the development of powerful processes that can help any individual build the skills needed for dance in any form, be it contemporary or classical. About This Course

What does it mean to be a Dancer?

Dance is the rhythmic and expressive movement of the body.

The key to becoming a captivating dancer lies in the mastery of movement, and through this course you will develop the fundamentals of effective movement by using Classical Dance techniques derived from the Natya Sastra.

NatyaClass will provide you with a series of dance practices that will enhance the way you move by building a sense of rhythm, balance and fluidity. The lessons include detailed explanations of how to execute various postures and their associated movements with grace and precision.

This knowledge will not only enrich your understanding of dance but also empower you to adapt and apply these principles to various dance forms, be it Bollywood, Western or Classical.

You will also be provided with a progressive Dance Workout that will improve your strength, agility and coordination, all of which are essential in any dance form you wish to develop. These practices will also form the basis of your growth towards more advanced aspects of classical dance such as the Karanas.

NatyaClass is designed to cater to dancers of all levels, and upon successful completion of this course, you will possess the skills needed to execute any dance move with proper awareness, accuracy and elegance.

You don’t need any prior dance training to start this course! We’re here to help you establish the basics and ignite your passion for dancing

How it works

Complete The Lessons & Homeworks
Lessons and Homeworks will be delivered to you on a scheduled basis. Complete them within the recommended time and ensure that you follow the practise guidelines provided during the course. Visit your learner dashboard to track your course enrollments and your progress.
Attend The Live Classes
Ensure that you are present during the Live Zoom Classes with your instructor and learn different ways to approach the course material. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you may have regarding the process.
Earn A Certificate
Upon successful completion of the course materials and the associated assignments you will receive a certificate from The Pallikoodam that can be added to your profile and also make you eligible for various advanced courses that are coming soon.

FAQ’s

1. What is the course format like?

This course consists of a series of lesson modules in which Vithya will take the learner through the fundamental concepts, demonstrations and exercises that are relevant to the art of Dancing.

The lessons are mostly presented in video format and live classes. We will also be providing learners with homework, assignments and practise breaks. In addition, NatyaClass will also have built-in quizzes and surveys within the online learning platform.

The assignments will be personally reviewed by Vithya.

2. What is the course schedule?

NatyaClass Level 1 is an 8-week course. The course follows a system where students will be given access to lessons on a scheduled basis. The first lesson will occur at the start of each week, and each subsequent lesson will be made accessible in regular intervals.

This is an instructor-led course which is a combination of

  • 10 lessons
  • daily practise sessions
  • homework/assignments
  • 4 live classes with Vithya
  • personalised feedback from Vithya

You can do the class at your own pace whenever it’s made available to you.

The live class timings alone are fixed. It will be from 6.30 to 7.30 pm IST on Sundays. This time is usually comfortable for learners from India, USA, UK, UAE, EU, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Australia.

3. Can I get recorded versions of the live classes in case I miss them?

We highly recommend that you attend all the live classes. However, if you miss it, the recording of the live classes will be uploaded to your course dashboard.

4. I don't have any experience of dancing, can I join?

NatyaClass is for everyone, all you need is the passion to dance. We will walk you through the basics and work with you to improve your skill. You can definitely join.

6. I have learnt dancing, will NatyaClass be useful for me?

NatyaClass is designed in a way where everyone can benefit from it. For an experienced dancer, the finer nuances in dancing can be discovered. Vithya also gives personalised feedback on which areas can be focused on.

7. Is there any age limit to join NatyaClass?

NatyaClass was primarily designed for young adults and adults (12 to 60+)

However, learners below 12 can take this course with parental guidance and explore the joy of dancing together.

8. What are the basic technical requirements for NatyaClass?

A stable internet connection (at least 1.5 Mbps) and a smartphone.
